LAMOINE — Looking for a cabin fever reliever? On Sunday, Feb. 11, three members of Lamoine Community Arts will offer a staged reading of “A Bench in the Sun” by Ron Clark at 2 p.m. at the Lamoine-Bayside Grange on Route 184 in Lamoine.
There you’ll meet Burt and Harold, residents of the Valley View Gardens retirement home. They’ve known each other for 40 years — or is it 42? They spend their days on a bench in the sun, bickering over everything. Newly-arrived Adrienne Bliss, a former movie star, soon becomes the object of each man’s affection. She is a woman of many causes who, among other things, leads a campaign against the closing of the home and adopts Burt and Harold as her alternative family.
The actors are long-time members of the Lamoine Community Arts company Sharon and Tom St. Claire and Fred Stocking, directed by Anne Stocking with lights and sound by Cliff Vaux. The cast and crew are pleased to celebrate the renovations of the Grange that now make it possible to offer winter programs.
There will be one performance only, with no snow date. No reservations are needed and admission is by donation. For information call 667-6564.
