BANGOR — John Bapst Memorial High School will host a simultaneous chess exhibition and lecture with Woman Grandmaster Sabina Foisor to kick off the weekend of the Maine Girls’ and Women’s Championships at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, in Sekera Auditorium, John Bapst, 100 Broadway.
Foisor will play several games at the same time against different opponents in the simul event.
Sabina will hold the simul with up to 40 chess players. Any chess players under a United States Chess Federation rating of 1800 are welcome to attend. A board in the simul costs $20.
Later, at 7 p.m., Sabina will hold a lecture session exclusively for participants in the Girls’ and Women’s Championships to be held the next day, Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Bangor Public Library.
WGM Sabina Foisor is the 2017 US Women’s National Champion, and is listed as one of the 30 Under 30 for Games by Forbes Magazine. For information about the event or to reserve a board in the simul, please contact Michael Dudley at email@example.com.
