An exciting music education opportunity awaits Maine music students and adult musicians alike.
The Gifts of Music presents a free improvisation clinic and benefit concert featuring renowned jazz clarinetist Brad Terry, guitarist Peter Herman, and the Hampden Academy Jazz Combo.
The improvisation clinic is set for Wednesday, August 20th at 2pm at Hampden Academy and is FREE to all Maine middle and high school students with a suggested donation for $10.00 for any adult musician who wishes to attend. Those who want to attend the clinic just need to RSVP The Gifts of Music by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The clinic will be followed by a benefit concert at the Hampden Academy Performing Arts Center that evening starting at 7pm. The admission is a suggested donation of $5.00 for students and seniors and $10.00 for adults. The performance will feature the Hampden Academy Jazz Combo, Terry and Herman, and some of the students who participated in the afternoon improvisation clinic.
This is what musician Paul Sullivan had to say about the Terry-Herman jazz performance they create together. “A beautifully balanced duo; experience and youth, eagerness and wisdom, looking ahead, looking back. Beautiful.”
