OLD TOWN — Hirundo Wildlife Refuge will hold its first of a series of 10 workshops focusing on foraging in Maine titled, “Wild Foraging With Respect and Skill” 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Hirundo Wildlife Refuge.
This monthly foraging series begins with an inspirational kickoff session on March 9 to grow the roots of safe and skillful foraging. Each monthly workshop can be taken as a stand-alone class. The March 9 workshop will focus on connecting, getting excited, orientation to foraging and wild harvesting as a way to relate with nature. We will walk, meet the plants, identification, caretaking, and harvest. Work with White Pine to make food, tea and medicine. We will also brainstorm what foraging and wild herbal projects everyone is interested in, organize these by season.
BYO lunch augmented by whatever we make or harvest. Ages 12 and older.
