BLUE HILL — Healthy Peninsula has been  named one of five Maine finalists for the Red Sox Foundation’s IMPACT Awards. The Award gives Red Sox fans in five New England states the opportunity to vote for their favorite local non-profits, to decide which organizations will be awarded grants. This year’s theme of the IMPACT Awards is focused on organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to improving health and wellness outcomes in their community.

Healthy Peninsula, serving the nine towns of the Blue Hill Peninsula and Deer Isle, was chosen from an application that told the story of how the organization works in our communities in the areas of early childhood, aging and healthy eating. Healthy Peninsula is one 25 finalists in New England (excluding Massachusetts).  Fans can vote for the non-profit that best fits within this year’s theme—but only one vote per person— until July 28.

The Red Sox Foundation will donate a total of $75,000 in IMPACT Awards. Voting will help determine a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner in each of the five states. First place winners will receive a $10,000 award and check presentation during a pre-game ceremony at Fenway Park on Sept. 5, tickets to a game, and recognition on the team and Foundation websites. Charities with the second and third most votes will receive grants of $3,000 and $2,000 respectively, along with the same additional benefits.

To be eligible, charities must be 501(c)(3) non-profits in good standing whose work is consistent with the Red Sox Foundation’s mission of serving the health, education, recreation and social service needs of children, families and veterans across New England.

IMPACT Award voting takes place on redsox.com/IMPACT. Go to Healthy Peninsula’s website healthypeninsula.org for more information about initiatives and activities.
