Hampden Historical Society’s September meeting program on ‘Katherine Allen — A Maine Statesman’

HAMPDEN — The Hampden Historical Society will hold its September meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Hampden Kiwanis Center, 55 Main Road North, Route 1A. The meeting is open to the public.

September’s program, presented by Society President Mary Poulin, will be “Katherine Allen — A Maine Statesman.” Allen, a Hampden native who, in the 1920s, was one of two women who were the first to be elected to serve in the Maine House of Representatives and later the Maine Senate.

The Hampden Historical Society is a completely volunteer non-profit organization. Society meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month March through October. Meetings are normally held at the Kinsley House Museum, however, the museum is closed for renovations, thus meetings are being held at Hampden Kiwanis Center in the interim.
