Hampden Historical Society to hold monthly meeting

HAMPDEN — The Hampden Historical Society will hold its monthly meeting 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at the Kinsley House Museum, 83 Main Road South.  Light refreshments will be served following the evening’s program. The meeting is open to the public and all are welcome to attend.

This month’s program will be presented by Sandra Clark Boynton. She will be sharing the story of Hattie Atwood Freeman’s Trip Around the World aboard the Bark “Charles Stewart”. Freeman was a teenager when she boarded the ship captained by her father Captain Horace Atwood of Hampden.

Upcoming programs include “Growing up in Bangor” presented by Richard Shaw, and “Hampden’s Silver Mines” presented by David Parson.

The Hampden Historical Society is a completely volunteer non-program organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
