Free Workshop: Expand Your Business with Federal Small Business Programs in Washington County

CALAIS — Companies in Washington County looking to expand their business with federal opportunities are urged to attend a free informational session in Calais, Wednesday, Nov. 2.
Maine Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) counselor Dana Delano will explain the US Small Business Administration’s federal small business programs.
“These valuable programs are designed to help small firms in certain communities gain access to federal contract opportunities,” said Delano. “There are numerous Washington County small businesses that would qualify for federal business programs such as Woman Owned Small Business, Veteran Owned Small Business, Service Disabled Veteran Small Business, 8(a) program or the HUBZone program. Government wide procurement goals stipulates that at least 23% of all federal government contracting dollars should be awarded to small businesses. This workshop will outline the many opportunities that are available to your small business in Washington County.”
Maine PTAC provides a variety of government contracting technical assistance services to Maine-based business of all sizes. The majority of its services are free.
“Government entities, whether local, state or federal, are a big consumer of products and services. They purchase anything from cleaning products and services, to construction, to landscaping,” added Delano. “We want to assist our local businesses in taking advantage of these government contract opportunities.”
The seminar, sponsored by Northern Maine Development Commission and Sunrise County Economic Council, will be from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Riverview Hall, Washington County Community College, One College Ave, Calais.
