FREEPORT, Maine — The Southern Maine Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America is sponsoring the “For the Love of Needle and Thread” series through Sept. 14 at the Mother of Purl Yarn Shop, 541 Route 1.
The first exhibit in the series features works by members of the Southern Maine Chapter. The pieces on display, both original designs and patterns from other designers, includes items such as needle books, Temari balls, holiday ornaments and more. Each item uses a different form of embroidery such as crazy quilting, counted cross stitch, needlepoint, stumpwork or reverse appliqué.
This exhibit includes an original piece by Jill Snyder Wallace, “Easter, 1956,” which is a textile interpretation of a family photo using numerous techniques.
Visit the shop and be inspired by needleworkers who love the possibilities of a threaded needle in their hands. For hours and directions, call 869-5280 or visit www.motherofpurlyarn.com.
