BANGOR — On Dec. 7 the Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor (UUSB) held the drawing for the Dinner for 2 Anywhere in the World Raffle with guest Gibran Graham, owner of the Briar Patch and former Bangor city councilor, serving as our ticket puller.
The grand prize, a dinner and trip package worth up to $5,000 was won by Francois Amar. The winning ticket was sold by Becky Anderson.
The grand winner will receive two round trip tickets to any major airport in the world; Dinner for two at a restaurant of their choice; and hotel accommodations for two nights at a hotel or accommodation of their choice. More information about the raffle can be found at uubangorraffle.
A $50 gift certificate to Massimo’s Italiano Restaurant in Bangor was also won by Tim Hamilton and a $50 gift certificate to the Taste of India Restaurant in Bangor was won by Robyn Hodgson.
In total, the UUSB sold 935 tickets to 607 different people.
The UUSB uses these funds to further the many social outreach programs that are core to its organization, including:
feeding over 3800 meals provided at the UUSB; bag lunches; and meals at the Salvation Army soup kitchen, as well as at the free holiday meal;
funding providing on an as-needed basis through our ministers fund to local families in need;
funds provided to local charities for people and families in need;
offering reduced rental space to social, social justice, and other non-profit organizations for meetings and events;
and working with other congregations to run a free school in Guatemala.
