CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Maine — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Charities began its annual fundraising campaign to support youths and seniors in Cumberland County. Through the Police Athletic League and TRIAD, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has, for many years, been providing scholarships to Cumberland County high school seniors, equipment for Cumberland County youth sports teams, senior citizen safety awareness initiatives and senior support through the Senior Neighborhood Awareness Program. By combining the two programs under the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Charities, the money raised can go to the program most in need of funding.

The fundraising campaign will include telephone solicitation calls throughout Cumberland County from the East Coast Marketing Group.

At the completion of the fundraising campaign, members of the Sheriff’s Office will play flag football against former New England Patriots players, announced by Lee Goldberg. The snack shack will be open, and there will be a musical performance by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard and the Explorer’s Post 3.

Festivities will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Fitzpatrick Stadium, Deering Ave. in Portland. Prior to the game, at 5 pm, there will be a youth clinic hosted by the New England alumni players.
