SANGERVILLE, Maine — There will be an organ concert by Sarah Johnson, music student and organist at Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sangerville and Dover-Foxcroft.
Sarah will perform to raise funds for repairs to our church’s beautiful stained glass windows. Sarah is a Junior Music major studying both piano and organ performance at Vassar College. A native of Garland, Maine, she has played services for several churches in the Bangor area and in Poughkeepsie, NY. She is currently Interim Organist at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church. Sarah began her organ lessons with Kevin Birch, organist and music director at Saint John’s Catholic Church in Bangor where she performed a senior recital in 2012. She has attended the Summer Organ Institute at Westminster Choir College in New Jersey twice and was named an E. Power Biggs Fellow of the Organ Historical Society in 2013. Sarah is a member of both the Organ Historical Society and the American Guild of Organists and currently studies with Gail Archer at Vassar College. Since beginning college she has performed twice in New York City at Central Synagogue. She plans to pursue a career in music in the future.
The concert is by donation. The church is located on the corner of Church and Main Streets in Sangerville.
