Downtown Calais is the place to be on Saturday, Oct. 29, as the Scarecrow Fest has a full day of great activities packed full of fun.
The big event for the Fest is going to be the Casket Race beginning at 11 a.m. on Main Street between North and Monroe Streets. Teams who enter a casket (home built or the real thing) vie for $500 and $250 prizes for first and second place and $100 for most creative casket. For more information and to register for this event, call Diane at 214-6581. Sponsored by Calais Downtown Revitalization Coalition.
While you are waiting for the race to start, head to the parking lot next to the bank where the St. Croix Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Trunk or Treat from 10 to 11 a.m.
From 12 to 2 p.m., Calais Regional Hospital is sponsoring Pumpkin Decorating (while the pumpkins last) being held at Triangle Park. This event is great fun for the kids. While there, enjoy the Haunted Triangle Park which runs all day Saturday.
Calais Free Library is offering Cookie Decorating at 12:30 p.m. at the library and a Mummy Race at 1:30 p.m. at Triangle Park.
The Cadaver Toss is from 2 to 4 p.m. in Triangle Park. Cadavers will be supplied and the objective is to see who can toss them the farthest. So be at Triangle Park and bring a little muscle with you. Cash prizes are first prize, $75, second prize, $50, and third prize $25.
