Calais Chair Affair auction set for Aug. 10

This year’s Calais Chair Affair auction is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 10, at 1 p.m. at the Triangle Park on Main Street. Preview begins at noon. WQDY’s Jeff Demmons has agreed to be the auctioneer for this wonderful fundraiser to benefit the efforts of Calais Downtown Revitalization Coalition (CDRC).
Businesses and organizations throughout Calais are offering 32 decorated Adirondack chairs at auction at this year’s event which is back by popular demand due to its huge success. It will be a little different this year as there will be three different sizes: 10 children’s chairs , 20 adult sizes, and two double sizes. An incredible amount of creative energy goes into these unique chairs. Here’s your chance to own one!
Chairs can be viewed all over Calais and here are the businesses and organizations who have generously sponsored and decorated these great chairs: Artemis’s Attic, The Bank of Maine, Bell’s IGA, Boston Shoe Store, Cabin Fever Embroidery, Calais Advertiser, Calais Bookshop, Calais Free Library, The Calais Motor Inn, Calais Regional Hospital, City of Calais, D & G Auto Service, Due East Real Estate, The First Bank, Flowers by Janie, Hair Masters, Headlines Hair Studio, Jo’s Diner and Pizzeria, Kendall’s Fine Jewelers, Label Shopper, Machias Savings Bank, Maineline Studio, Mercier’s Hair Salon, NAPA/HC Auto Parts, Peaceful Postures Yoga and Wellness, Ed Powers, Rent-A-Center, State Cinemas, Urban Moose, and Wabanaki Culture Center. Visit these establishments to view the chairs in advance or preview beginning at noon on day of auction.
