BUCKSPORT — Valedictorian Jack Foster, son of Thomas and Andrea Foster of Bucksport. Jack plans on attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the fall where he will dual major in Games and Simulations Arts and Sciences as well as Computer Science. He has demonstrated his academic excellence by earning the following awards: the MPA Principal’s Award, FIRST Robotics Dean’s List Finalist (11), Rensselaer Medalist Award (11), Phi Beta Kappa Association of Maine Certificate of Recognition (11), Bausch + Lomb Honorary Science Award (11), and Dartmouth College Book Award (11). His high school activities include: FIRST Robotics (9-12), American Legion Boys’ State (11), Golf (9-11) and Band (9). Jack believes, “Life is full of challenges, but with enough hard work and perseverance anything is possible, so pick yourself up when you fall, make funny stories out of the mistakes, be stubborn and keep moving forward, if you never stop trying you never fail.”
Salutatorian Suzanne Jack, daughter of Paul and Allison Jack of Orland. Suzanne plans on attending Husson University in the fall where she will major in Forensic Science. Suzanne has demonstrated her academic excellence by earning the following awards: Student of the Month (9,12), Certificate of Achievement in Science (9-11) and Certificate of Achievement in Math (9-11). Her high school activities include: Math Team (9-12), Baseball Manager (10-12), Varsity Soccer and Basketball (9-10) and National Honor Society (11-12).
First Honors Essayist Katelyn Cloutier, daughter of Renaud Cloutier and Jennifer Collins of Bucksport. Katelyn plans on attending University of Maine at Farmington where she will major in Elementary Education. Katelyn has demonstrated her excellence by earning the following awards: Dirigo Girls’ State Delegate, Third Place in Girls’ Throwers Relay in Indoor Track, and the Saint Michael’s College Book Award. Her high school activities include: Drama(9-12), Outdoor Track (10-12), Indoor track (12), National Honors Society (11-12), Student Council (9-10) and Jazz Band (9). Katelyn says, “Cherish every moment you have and when life is bringing you down, use the memories to bring your spirits back up.”
Second Honors Essayist Olivia West, daughter of Stephen West and Darcy Dakin. Olivia plans on attending Husson University in the fall to major in Journalism and Communications. She has demonstrated her academic excellence by earning the following awards: Highest GPA awards, Excellence in Class awards, Daughters of the American Revolution, Excellence in A.P. U.S. History and the Williams College Book Award. Her high school activities include: Band (9-12), Jazz Band (9-12), Jazz Combo (9-12), Musical (9-12), One Act (9-12), National Honors Society (11-12) and Gifted and Talented Music (9-12). Olivia believes, “Music can connect us all. Take the time to listen.”
