Belvedere Historic Preservation Fund awards $335,000 in grants to 25 Maine organizations

ELLSWORTH — Grants totaling $335,479 have been awarded through the Belvedere Historic Preservation and Energy Efficiency Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.

Grantees include: Islesford Boat Works, to inspect and repair a chimney and purchase and install a wood stove, and inspect and repair the stone foundation for the Blue Duck Ship’s Store; Madison Public Library, to replace the metal roof; Monmouth Museum, to make the North Monmouth Library more energy efficient by fully insulating the structure, upgrading electrical wiring, and installing interior storm windows; Town of Danforth, to fund an energy audit as the initial phase of a plan to increase the energy efficiency and reduce operating costs for the Union Hall.

The Belvedere Historic Preservation and Energy Efficiency Fund supports the preservation, restoration and retrofitting of historic buildings in Maine. An anonymous donor established the fund in 2007.
