Residents and tax payers in Amherst, Aurora, and Great Pond have an opportunity to express their thoughts on what they want for their towns in the future. The three towns, with help from the Hancock County Planning Commission, are conducting a public opinion survey. Copies are being distributed to all property owners and the survey may also be responded to on-line at www.hcpcme.org/survey. While the survey is a joint effort, responses will be tabulated separately for each town.
All residents and tax payers are urged to respond. “The results will help town leaders determine what concerns are important to citizens,” explained Hancock County Planning Commission executive director Tom Martin. “If there is support and interest, the next step could be an update to the comprehensive plan,” Martin continued. Based on the responses received, each town can decide what, if any, steps it takes.
