10% of all ticket sales on The River Tripper will be donated to the Fish Ladder Restoration Project during the Alewife Festival

Damariscotta, Maine—-Damariscotta River Cruises joins the fundraising effort this year again in support of the Fish Ladder Restoration Project. In the process, they will carry you to the center of the activities on the Upper Damariscotta River during the Alewife Festival. Odd Alewives Farm Brewery of Waldoboro will beat the bar onboard The River Tripper to enhance the celebratory spirit. Oyster Farms & Seal Watching Tours will run every day, 2-4pm during Memorial Day weekend.

This year the first alewives showed up at the Damariscotta Fish Ladder on Mother’s Day and they anticipate the peak during Memorial Day weekend with lots of seals and pups that follow them. During the scenic and informative Oyster Farms & Seal Watching Tours you will learn how the annual migration of alewives influences other creatures along the River. Harbor seals, for example, give birth to their pups just as the alewife migration introduces an abundance of food to the River. During this time, it’s not uncommon to witness chubby pups nursing on Goose Ledge. On this narrated cruise, you can also sample the freshest of oysters at the Oyster bar and learn how local oyster farmers raise them.

Odd Alewives Farm Brewery’s wonderful craft beer selection will be showcased at the Boat Bar. Their collaboration started last summer when John McNeil, co-founder of Odd Alewives Farm Brewery of Waldoboro, brought a refreshing and unique variety of their beers to pair with the world-famous Damariscotta River oysters. The event was such a success that this summer the Odd Alewives and Oyster Tasting Cruise is back on the Damariscotta River Cruises calendar on July 27th., 5-7pm.

Let the summer begin and stay outdoors as much as you can. Please check the 2019 Calendar on the website for more special events: Sign up for their Newsletter online or call
