A man died after crashing his car into a home in Glenburn late Monday night.

Peter H. Oliver, 45, was southbound on Hudson Road in Glenburn at around 11:05 p.m. on Monday when police say his 1996 Toyota Camry veered into the opposite lane. He drove into a ditch before striking a utility pole and then a house at 588 Hudson Road, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said Tuesday.

Oliver died at the scene. It was unclear why he veered off the road, Moss said.

He crashed into a room where an older woman was sleeping. The impact of the crash propelled her bed across the room, Moss said.

The woman was transported for medical care as a precaution, but was “virtually unharmed,” she said.

Nobody at the home answered the door Tuesday morning. Two wooden boards covered a section of the home facing the street.

Hudson Road is also known as Route 221.
