A car crash on Valley Avenue is under investigation by the Bangor police after the driver died on Sunday morning.
The car left the road and went down an embankment before coming to a violent stop, according to Sgt. Wade Betters, spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department. The car had “catastrophic” damage and the driver — who was the sole occupant of the vehicle — died, he said.
The street is shut down between Kenduskeag Avenue and Bruce Road.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area while the reconstruction team works to determine the cause, Betters said.
