Its two occupants survived when a Cessna 150 airplane crashed into Morgan Bay off the coast of Surry at about 5:20 p.m. on Monday, News Center Maine reported.

The Federal Aviation Administration said that the flight departed from Morrisville-Stowe State Airport in Morristown, Vermont, and was en route to Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport In Trenton. The FAA will investigate the crash and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine the probable cause of the accident, News Center Maine reported.

Messages left with the FAA office in Portland and the FAA regional spokesperson’s office were not immediately returned on Tuesday.
