A man was killed Monday night in a single-vehicle crash on the Maine Turnpike in Lewiston.

Joshua Lussier, 31, of Lewiston was driving north near the Old Lewiston Road overpass about 9 p.m. when his car struck the guardrail in the median and was thrown from the vehicle, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Lussier, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene, McCausland said.

Northbound traffic was detoured at exit 80 while troopers investigated the crash, McCausland said.

Speed was a factor in the crash, according to McCausland.
