Two people have been arrested in Lewiston after a gun was allegedly fired through an apartment window Friday night and struck a woman in the back, according to Lewiston police.

Jordan T. Bunting, 22, was arrested along with a 15-year-old boy and charged with elevated aggravated assault and theft of a firearm reported stolen in Auburn, police said in a Facebook post.

The shooting was reported a few minutes before 10 p.m. at an apartment building at 124 College St.

The suspects fled the scene while initial reports indicated the 24 year-old victim was “conscious and alert” when police and medical personnel arrived, CBS affiliate WGME reported. The victim was treated and released from Central Maine Medical Center.

Police shut down the street by the building and searched the neighborhood. A suspect was taken into custody a couple hours later at an apartment at Place Ste. Marie on Oxford Street, according to the Sun Journal.

Bunting was being held at the Androscoggin County Jail. The juvenile was taken to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.

Bunting, who initially gave police a false name when he was questioned and booked at the jail, also has been charged with forgery and failure to give his correct name and birthdate, according to police.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information related to the shooting is asked to contact Detective Joy Brown at 207-513-3138, ext. 3322, or the Lewiston Police Department at 207-784-6421.
