Newport police were called to the scene at 10 a.m. Thursday after receiving a 911 call and notified state police. Detectives and evidence technicians have been in Newport all day and are expected to continue working at the home Friday, McCausland said.

Anielka Allen’s body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta where an autopsy is expected to take place Friday, he said.

Frederick Allen was arrested Thursday afternoon and was taken to the Penobscot County Jail. He is expected to make his first court appearance Friday, McCausland said.

Frederick and Anielka Allen had been living at the 16 North St. home since 2012, he said.

Anielka Allen’s death is the first homicide in 2020, McCausland said.
