East Millinocket 15-year-old dies in accidental shooting

Gage Hale, a 15-year-old student at Schenck High School in East Millinocket, died Wednesday of an accidental gunshot wound.

A 15-year-old from East Millinocket died Wednesday of an accidental gunshot wound, according to Maine State Police spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Gage Hale was a freshman at Schenck High School. He was visiting a friend’s home when he died, McCausland said.

State police were informed of the death by the East Millinocket Police Department, and are investigating the case.

Hale leaves behind his parents, two brothers and three sisters, according to his obituary.

He loved hunting, fishing and “riding around town whether it be on his bike with friends or a lawnmower with his brother, Gaven, looking for odd jobs,” the obituary said.
