The fall sports season is upon us, and the BDN is asking for the help of coaches, team managers and/or athletic administrators to report their scores and results to help us provide our readers with the most complete high school and college coverage. We ask schools to report only their home games, but will take the information if the home school has not provided it.
We have an online procedure for reporting soccer, field hockey, football and volleyball games that will enable us to post your results quickly on our website and also get them in the newspaper. Coaches or meet administrators for cross country and golf should send their results, in Associated Press or an all-text format, to email@example.com
To report soccer, field hockey, football and volleyball results, coaches who have not already done so need to complete a brief, one-time registration process as described here.
Once logged in, go to http://bangordailynews.com/sports/scores, click on the correct date, find your team’s game and click the “Final Score” and “Game Details,” boxes. Please follow the examples provided for the details you are able to report, then click on submit.
Submitting at least the score is appreciated, although we know the student-athletes and their families also love to see the players’ names and details of their accomplishments listed.
FOR SOCCER AND FIELD HOCKEY, we ask for all scorers for each team and other available stat leaders such as assists, along with goalkeepers, saves and shots.
FOR FOOTBALL, we ask for the touchdown plays, including the names of the rusher or passer and receiver and the yardage of the plays, along with individual rushing, passing, receiving and tackles statistics and other key plays.
FOR VOLLEYBALL, we ask for the team scores and team records and key statistics for individuals from each team, including serving, kills, assists and blocks.
FOR CROSS COUNTRY and GOLF, we ask schools to email results to us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Key highlights or milestones (which are not published but will be reviewed by an editor) may be added by checking the “Note to Editor” box.
FOR POSTPONED GAMES, we ask that coaches or athletic administrators email us at email@example.com with the rescheduled date as soon as possible.
Thank you for taking the time to report your games and events!
Please note that because of the logistical challenges of printing the BDN in southern Maine and distributing the newspaper to our large geographic region, games that are not reported by 7:30 p.m. likely will not appear in print until the next day’s edition. However, they will be published online.
We greatly appreciate your cooperation in helping us provide our readers with the best possible coverage of winter sports!
If you have any questions, please contact Digital Sports Editor Pete Warner at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 207-990-8240 (weekdays 9 a.m.-5 p.m.).
