A teenage girl found unresponsive on the side of a road in Washington on Monday was the victim of a hit and run, police said.
Around 9 a.m. on Monday morning, a passerby found the girl on the side of West Washington Road.
The girl’s injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
The girl was taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries, which police say are serious.
No other person or vehicle was found at the scene and police are asking the public for help in gathering information related to the incident.
A message left for Knox County Sheriff Tim Carroll was not immediately returned Tuesday morning.
