A 49-year-old Harrison woman is being treated for wounds at Maine Medical Center after being stabbed and assaulted at her home Friday evening, according to a report from Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Her son, 24-year-old Mohamed Noh, is at the Cumberland County Jail and has been charged with elevated aggravated assault. The woman was flown to the hospital by LifeFlight helicopter.
CBS 13 reports that the woman suffered injuries to her head, arms and face from a splitting maul, a cutting tool that looks similar to an ax.
The attack is said to have taken place at a barn on the woman’s property while she was feeding livestock. State Police and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office are investigating and have not yet found a motive for the attack.
