Alex B. Moustrouphis, 29, of Westbrook.

A Westbrook man out on bail for allegedly trafficking methamphetamine was arrested Saturday on similar charges.

Alex B. Moustrouphis, 29, was charged with aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and violation of conditions of release, Portland police Lt. Robert Martin said.

Portland police officers stopped Moustrouphis, a convicted felon with prior history for drug trafficking, to conduct a search as required by his bail conditions about 2 p.m. Saturday when he was driving through a Bayside neighborhood, Martin said. During the search, officers found him allegedly in possession of approximately 56 grams of methamphetamine, $2,900 and a loaded Glock 19 handgun.

Moustrouphis was out on bail from a June 24 arrest in the same Bayside neighborhood. Martin said Moustrouphis had been charged with aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs after he was found in possession of approximately 112 grams of methamphetamine.

After that June 24 arrest, Moustrouphis posted $5,000 bail and was released.
