A Searsmont man who police say stabbed another man very early Thursday morning has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Sean Sullivan, 28, was charged with aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon and violating conditions of release, according to a news release sent later Thursday morning by Sgt. Cody Laite of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
Police learned about the alleged assault after a 26-year-old man went to Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast to be treated for a stab wound. Hospital staff reported the incident to authorities at 4:58 a.m., and they started to investigate. The man, who was not identified, had been stabbed at a Waldo residence on Old County Road earlier that morning, Laite said.
Sullivan was arrested without incident and taken to Waldo County Jail in Belfast to be booked. The victim was taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for further treatment of his injuries, police said.
