Because of ongoing construction in Bar Harbor, a Canadian ferry operator again has delayed the expected start date of ferry service between Maine and Nova Scotia.
Bay Ferries said Monday that “the earliest date on which any service could commence is in the late summer range.”
All customers with reservations this season are being offered full refunds and, if available, alternate booking on the Fundy Rose ferry, which operates between Saint John, New Brunswick, and Digby, Nova Scotia, the company said. No new reservations for The Cat ferry will be accepted until Bay Ferries has a more firm start date for when service can get under way.
So far this summer, more than half of customers who had reservations for The Cat have accepted bookings on the Fundy Rose instead, company officials said.
