A septic truck and an SUV collided in Windham on Monday morning.

Police are investigating a crash in Windham that shut down a portion of River Road Monday morning and sent one person to the hospital.

Kaitlyn Rose, 26, of Westbrook was driving a Chevy SUV north on River Road about 6:30 a.m. when she crossed the centerline into the path of a southbound septic truck, according to police.

Rose was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, police said. No one in the septic truck was injured.

Windham police Sgt. Peter Fulton said the collision could have been worse if the septic tank was full at the time of crash.

“[O]ur understanding is the septic tank or truck is empty. Had [it] been loaded … it could’ve been much more serious for sure,” Fulton said.

It’s unclear what caused Rose to cross into the path of the septic truck.
