Biddeford — A man walking along railroad tracks in Biddeford was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Sunday evening, according to Biddeford Police.
The incident was reported around 4 p.m. Sunday along the tracks near Pomerleau Street in Biddeford, authorities said.
According to Biddeford Police, the 42-year-old male pedestrian was walking southbound on the tracks when he was struck and killed by a passing Downeaster train.
Investigators said there were passengers on the train but no one onboard was injured.
BIddeford Police and Amtrak Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident and are withholding the name of the man who was struck by the train at this time.
Amtrak tweeted that service along the Downeaster line was delayed because of the “trespasser incident.”
UPDATE: Train 695 and 698 are currently stopped due to residual affects of Train 696 earlier trespasser incident. Updates to follow as more information becomes available.
