Some Enchanted Afternoon: An Afternoon of Musical Theater through the Decades

BAR HARBOR — Join vocalist Kate Hall and pianist Vivian Hyde for “Some Enchanted Afternoon: An Afternoon of Musical Theater through the Decades” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at Jesup Memorial Library, Mount Desert Street. This concert is part of the Sundays at the Jesup Winter Concert Series.

Contra Dance with Big Moose Band in Bar Harbor

BAR HARBOR — Join Big Moose Band for a rousing evening of contra dancing with caller Chrissy Fowler 6:30-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Jesup Memorial Library, Mount Desert Street. This month’s dance features a free, family dance 6:30-7:30 p.m. where beginners, families and nondancers can learn the dances beforehand and then put them to music in a friendly, judgment-free atmosphere. Starting at 7:30 p.m., the regular contra dance will be begin and all dances will be taught. This is a great time to have fun and dance the night away. $8, free for kids 12 and under and College of the Atlantic students, $25 maximum for families. The Grand to hold Oscar night fundraising party with live simulcast

ELLSWORTH — The Grand will hold a fundraising Oscar night party at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at 165 Main St. This year’s awards ceremony features nominees from “Black Panther” to “Bohemian Rhapsody.” During the live simulcast, film program director Robin Jones will offer commentary at commercial breaks. Walk the red carpet and attend a pre-party reception with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, trivia, games and more. Admission is by donation only for this special fundraising screening event. Friends of Music present ‘Winterreise’ at Bar Harbor church

BAR HARBOR — The Friends of Music at St. Saviour’s Episcopal church will present a concert of Franz Schubert’s song-cycle “Winterreise” (“The Winter Journey”) from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at 41 Mount Desert St. Admission to the concert is free, but donations benefiting the Friends of Music will be gratefully accepted. The church is accessible to all, and parking is available.

Small Adventures in the Wildland Series with Great Pond Conservation Trust

BUCKSPORT — Great Pond Conservation Trust will hold its Small Adventures in the Wildland Series from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 23, at the North Gate on Bald Mountain Road. Jennifer Riefler, Wildlands naturalist and historian and Karen Johnson, Maine master naturalist, will lead the group. Each walk will explore at a leisurely pace. We will walk for about an hour, stopping for discussion and then turn around and walk back. The walk is suitable for all ages. Come prepared for the weather. If it is snowing or snow is on the ground, please bring snowshoes, creepers or good boots. The event will be cancelled if heavy snow makes road travel difficult or if heavy rain makes walking unpleasant.
