Temple Academy topped Pine Tree Academy by a 63-44 score to win a Class D South boys’ quarterfinal round matchup Monday afternoon in Augusta.

The No. 2 Temple Academy, of Waterville, improves to 14-5 and will move on to face No. 3 Valley High School of Bingham Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the semifinals. That game will also be played at the Augusta Civic Center.

Valley edged Temple for a 45-44 victory in last year’s quarterfinals.

This is the fourth straight year Pine Tree has been knocked out in the quarterfinal round of the tournament. The No. 7 Freeport school finishes its season with a 5-14 record.
