Reigning C South champ Hall-Dale knocks out Monmouth

Hall-Dale High School's Austin Stebbins (right) tried to get around a George Stevens Academy defender in the 2018 Class C state title game. Hall-Dale lost that contest by five, 64-59. The Bulldogs advanced to the semifinals of this year's tournament Monday with a victory over Monmouth Academy.

The one-loss Hall-Dale High School boys’ basketball team handily defeated Monmouth Academy, 83-57, Monday in Class C South tournament action at the Augusta Civic Center.

With the quarterfinal-round victory Monday, the No. 3 Bulldogs improve to 18-1 and move on to play again in a semifinal round matchup Thursday at 7 p.m. in Augusta. Hall-Dale is the reigning Class C South champion. The Bulldogs reached the state title game in 2018 and lost by five to George Stevens Academy, 64-59.

No. 6 Monmouth finishes its season with a 13-7 record.
