Florida State pitchers shut out UMaine baseball team

Drew Parrish pitched five innings with five strikeouts, setting the tone for a no-hitter as 11th-ranked Florida State posted an 11-0 baseball victory over the University of Maine on Friday afternoon at Tallahassee, Florida.

Conor Grady worked three innings with four strikeouts and a walk, and Chase Henry pitched the ninth, striking out one and walking one, to complete the no-hitter.

The Seminoles scored three times in the first inning off Black Bears starter Cody Laweryson of Moscow, then scored in four other innings amid a 12-hit attack.

Reese Albert drove in two runs with a home run and a triple for FSU, which also received two hits each from Mike Salvatore (double, RBI), Drew Mendoza (two doubles, RBI) and Nander De Sedas (double).

Only three Black Bears reached base, with Kevin Doody drawing two walks and Cody Pasic working a base on balls.

Laweryson pitched three innings and surrendered four hits and five runs, four earned, with two strikeouts and no walks. Jacob Small went three innings, giving up seven hits and six runs, all earned, with two strikeouts and a walk.

Trevor DeLaite and Matt Geoffrion each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
