Police in Knox County are looking for two men who allegedly broke into a residence in Hope on Saturday, threatened a man with a gun and fired a shot into the floor.

Two men allegedly entered the residence on Crabtree Road about 4 a.m. and began looking for something by turning over furniture, according to Knox County Sheriff Tim Carroll. While the person who rents the house was not home, two men were staying at the residence at the time of the incident.

When the two intruders entered the home, one of the men staying at the home ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911. The suspects allegedly held a gun to the other man, demanded money and fired one shot into the floor to “threaten the man,” Carroll said.

The intruders then left quickly after apparently not being able to find what they were looking for. Police believe the men left in a truck that they parked farther up the road.

Carroll said that there is no risk to the general public.

Carroll said both of the victims are assisting with the investigation and evidence was gathered at the scene. Police have no suspects at this time, he said.
