Game notes: These neighboring rivals will meet for the 181st time after splitting two games last winter. UMaine is coming off Wednesday’s 78-59 victory at UMass Lowell that featured a career night from Fleming. He exploded for 38 points while shooting 18 of 20 from the field and tying the America East record for field goals in a game. The junior from Norway, Maine, and Oxford Hills High School continues to rank among conference leaders in numerous categories: scoring (13th), minutes played (second, 36.7 mpg), rebounds (sixth), field-goal percentage (sixth, .497), assist-to-turnover ratio (sixth, 1.2 per game) and assists (seventh). UMaine is in a three-way tie for sixth in America East with Albany and Binghamton. Last-place UNH has just one Division I victory this year, a 68-64 win over UMass Lowell on Jan. 19. The Wildcats have lost their last five games, the latest Wednesday’s 62-42 home decision against Albany. UNH is averaging a league-low 61.7 ppg, just behind UMaine’s 63.0 ppg. UMaine begins the second half of its conference schedule Wednesday at Vermont.
