A head-on crash Friday afternoon closed Route 9 in Lisbon for several hours and sent one person to an area hospital by LifeFlight of Maine helicopter.
Just before 4 p.m., a vehicle driven by a 52-year-old woman apparently crossed the center line, striking another vehicle driven by a 37-year-old woman head on, Lisbon Police Chief Marc Hagan said.
Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
One of the two women was extricated from her vehicle by firefighters and taken by helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center.
The other driver was taken by ambulance to CMMC.
Route 9, also known as Ridge Road, remained closed from Webster Road to Upland Road at 6:30 p.m. as Brunswick police reconstructed the crash, Hagan said.
Police did not immediately release the names of the drivers or information about their vehicles. The conditions of the drivers were not available Friday night.
