Former President George H.W. Bush died Friday, Nov. 30, 2018, at the age of 94. Take a look back through his remarkable life, from his early days as a Yale University baseball player to his climb through the political ranks, and of course, the time he spent at his family’s compound in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Former President George H. W. Bush, a naval aviator in World War II, was honored Sept. 30, 2009, by a group of neighbors in Kennebunkport with a Navy anchor and a plaque giving thanks for his service as president and or being a good neighbor. A group of his neighbors surprised the former president with a 6,000-pound anchor and plaque, which were placed at a turnout that overlooks Bush's Walker's Point coastal estate. He also was presented with a painting showing the anchor in the foreground with Walker's Point and Bush's speedboat in the background. After talking with neighbors, Bush invited them on a tour of his family's estate.
