Game notes: The Black Bears must establish the run game early to help open up the passing game. Jefferson is averaging 5.3 ypc over his past five games. UMaine has to get pressure on Cooper and limit his scrambling while trying to neutralize Walter Payton Award finalist Pearson and Hester. The Gamecocks encounter UMaine’s second-ranked rushing defense. UMaine has to protect Ferguson and his tender throwing shoulder and he must be productive. The quick-striking Gamecocks have scored 20 touchdowns on plays of at least 29 yards this season.
