An unmarked Ellsworth police vehicle took minor damage in a crash that began with an officer responding to another crash in Orland on Thursday. No injuries were reported.
Ellsworth police Capt. Troy Bires was driving south on Acadia Highway in Orland shortly before 5:30 p.m. when he saw the crash, according to a statement released by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office on Friday.
Bires had pulled into the breakdown lane, lit his emergency lights and begun to turn when he struck the rear passenger side of a southbound 1997 Toyota driven by Brandi Littlefield, 30, of Belfast, according to the statement.
The impact caused reportable damage to the Toyota and minor damage to the unmarked police vehicle, a 2016 model, according to the statement.
