Pedestrian dies after being hit by car in Augusta

An Augusta man died Monday night after he was struck by a car on Memorial Bridge, according to the Augusta Police Department.

Dana M. Williams, 60, was struck by a car about 7 p.m. while on the west side of Memorial Bridge, near Gage Street, Deputy Chief Kevin D. Lully said Tuesday morning.

A number of witnesses to the crash attempted to render first aid to Williams, Lully said. But Williams died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

Lully said the investigation into the crash is still ongoing. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact the Augusta Police Department.
