One person suffered second-degree burns Saturday night after a fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to a garage in Fryeburg.

Fryeburg fire Chief Andrew Dufresne said the fire was reported before 7:40 p.m. at 17 Heather Circle at a two-car garage.

The fire was originally reported as involving explosions.

Firefighters needed an hour to get the fire under control. One person, who has not been identified, suffered second-degree burns to his head and arms.

Dufresne did not know if the person was transported to a hospital.

The Maine fire marshal’s office is investigating the fire, which caused $100,000 in damage to the garage and personal effects, Dufresne said.

The fire chief would not say what was damaged inside the garage by the fire.
