A 29-year-old was charged with murder Friday in an apparent beating death earlier this week in Bangor.
Donald Galleck was charged in the death of 40-year-old Jason Moody of Bangor. He was taken into custody Friday morning and charged a few hours later, according to Bangor police.
He allegedly was found hiding in a Fifth Street apartment. Mary Molnar, 33, of Bangor was charged with hindering apprehension, police said. Her bail was set at $750.
Galleck is being held without bail at the Penobscot County Jail. He also is charged with domestic violence assault and violating bail conditions in an earlier unrelated matter.
He is tentatively scheduled to make his first court appearance at 1 p.m. Monday before a judge at the Penobscot Judicial Center. Galleck will not be asked to enter a plea until after he has been indicted by the Penobscot County grand jury.
Galleck was taken into custody at 11 a.m. Friday morning.
Moody was found unconscious Sunday at about 10:40 p.m. at the intersection of Center and Cumberland streets after a report of an injured male. He was taken to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, police said previously. He died from his injuries Tuesday afternoon.
An autopsy determined the manner of death to be homicide, Detective Sgt. Brent Beaulieu said Wednesday in a news release. The exact cause of death was not released.
If convicted of murder, Galleck faces between 25 years and life in prison.
