A 60-year-old man died at the Greater Portland branch of the YMCA of Southern Maine Tuesday, according to an afternoon statement released by the organization.

The local YMCA attributed the death to “an apparent medical emergency.”

“The Y is working with the authorities who are investigating the incident and is not able to share any further details at this time,” the statement, sent by Marketing Director Meaghan Woodsome, read, in part.

The organization also offered its “heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of this gentlemen.”
