A Brunswick woman was charged with aggravated assault Monday night after police say she stabbed her roommate several times with a paring knife.

Officers called to a Wadsworth Road apartment at 11:47 p.m. found that a 59-year-old woman had been stabbed in both legs and the neck with a small paring knife, Brunswick police Cmdr. Thomas Garrepy said Tuesday.

The woman’s roommate, Caril L. Crosby, 54, was charged with Class B felony aggravated assault.

Garrepy said police have yet to determine what prompted the argument.

Crosby, who had also cut her hand with the knife, was taken to Mid Coast Hospital and then to Cumberland County Jail in Portland, where she remained Tuesday morning on $500 cash bail, according to police.

The condition of the victim was not immediately available.

Crosby is scheduled to appear in Cumberland County Superior Court on Dec. 18.
