City officials in Ellsworth lifted a boil-water order Wednesday afternoon that had been issued for some residents on or near Route 172, also known as Surry Road.

According to the city’s website, tests on the water indicated that it was safe to drink.

The order had been issued Sunday after a break in a city water supply line occurred on Mountain View Drive, according to CBS affiliate WABI.

The order affected water customers on Mountain View Drive, Hillside Drive, Edaco Court, and Surry Road between Mountain View Drive and Edaco Court. Officials recommended boiling water for at least five minutes before drinking, making ice cubes, washing foods, brushing teeth or other means of consumption.

Residents with questions or concerns should contact the city’s water department at 667-8632, city officials said.
