It took two overtime periods, but No. 4 Falmouth pulled out a nail biter of a win over No. 5 York in the Class A South boys’ quarterfinal at the Portland Expo, according to The Forecaster’s Michael Hoffer.

York’s Chris Cummins scored on a floater and subsequent free throw to give his team a two-point lead, 47-45, in the final minute of regulation. But on the defensive end, Cummins fouled Falmouth’s Jack Bryant with 5.2 second to play to put the Yachtsman on the line with a chance to tie it up.

Bryant hit both free throws and sent the game to overtime, but the teams couldn’t resolve things after one extra four-minute period. They went into a second overtime all knotted up at 51.

With Falmouth clinging to a one-point lead with less than two minutes remaining in the second overtime, the Yachtsmen made the most of their trips to the foul line, with Sam Pitre and Sam Manganello each putting in three free throws to put the game out of reach.
